Harsh realities
The genuine challenges of a role or culture, used honestly to attract the right fit and deter the wrong.
Harsh realities are the genuine difficulties of a role or culture, the demanding, frustrating, or uncomfortable parts, shared openly rather than hidden. Naming them honestly, in the spirit of the give-and-get approach, attracts people who can handle them and deters those who cannot, sharpening fit. Far from weakening attraction, candid harsh realities build trust and reduce the early attrition that follows over-idealised recruitment.
